Green Tea Lemonade or Lemonade Green Ice Tea (your choice)
Ingredients:
Boil about 2 or 3 cups of water and add the tea bags. Let it sit (steep) for the recommended time on the box, usually a couple of minutes. If you let it sit too long it the flavor can get bitter. I use to let it steep for about an hour to get as much caffeine and antioxidants as I could out of the green tea but it tasted kind of crapy.
Once the tea is ready take out the bags and add the sugar or honey. It dissolves better when the tea is hot. Pour the sweetened tea into a jug and add enough cold water to make about 2 quarts. Then add some ice to cool it off more.
Now squeeze the lemons and add to the tea. Don’t add the lemon juice to the hot tea as it won’t taste a good and will potentially denature the vitamin C in the lemon juice. If you are finicky and don’t like lemon pulp you can strain the lemon juice before adding it to the mix.
This drink also makes a good mix for Vodka. You can call them Hard Green Tea Lemonades…
