An Alternative to Ceramic Bakeware
Farberware® makes quality cookware, bakeware and other kitchen accessories and has been around for a very long time. The company started back about one hundred years ago in Manhattan New York. Though they don’t produce ceramic bakeware they do make a good quality line of bakeware products that rival the best. From cookie pans to crispers to cake molds and loaf pans, Farberware makes them all.
Ceramic bakeware is great for distributing heat throughout the cooking vessel and also for retaining heat. This means you can serve your dishes with ceramic cookware and things will stay warm for a nice long time due to its insulating qualities. Ceramic tiles are used by NASA on the space shuttle to insulate its hull against extreme temperatures. If it works well for the shuttle then it will probably work well to keep the next casserole warm for a while on the table. Better quality ceramic cookware can withstand rapid temperature fluctuations and changes and can usually go from the freezer to oven.
Farberware makes a line of bakeware products that are insulated giving them some similar qualities to ceramics. Insulated bakeware has an insulating layer (sometimes air) sandwiched between to metal surfaces. Unlike standard baking ware which is usually only one or two layers which have not space or insulation between them. These types of products tend to spread the heat around the pan or pot more evenly. They do however sometimes change the cooking times so a little experimentation may be necessary before you cook or bake for a big family gathering or to impress the neighbors!
Farberware is available online and in stores. Various online e-tailers including farberware.com sell the insulated line of products including crispers, baking pans and cookie sheets
